Yesterday, Saturday, began an adventure. That's the way I like to think of traveling: an adventure. Because as much as you plan and schedule and overthink, nothing is going to pan out perfectly. Once you embrace that fact and learn to make it work, however, it makes things extremely fun. I love it.
The rain wasn't planned, for instance: I hadn't bargained for getting soaked as I cleaned out the car that morning. Neither had we planned on leaving at 3pm. Packing and cleaning the house the day we go on a five-day road trip probably isn't the best idea...I'm just saying. I think it's safe to say that by the time we left, everyone had lost their patience multiple times and we were all a little edgy.
Road trips do have a certain magic to them, though. My exasperation was left behind with St. Louis and soon I was truly enjoying myself in the car...squished in with Megan and CJ in the back seat as I was. Taking pictures, getting quizzed with BrainQuest's, laughing hard. We were headed to a resort near Branson, Missouri by Table Rock Lake, right in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Beautiful.
The resort we're at right now is (though maybe not exactly what we were expecting) wonderful. The decor in our little condo is lovely...and full of mirrors. ;-)

Last night I wrote in my diary: I'm excited for the rest of this adventure, but so far it's been fun. Full of laughter, despite the things that have gone wrong. Yes, I think that sums up "day one".
